Pipes' Altitude Allies
Story
We’re training as a growing collective to take on challenge that hits way to close to home.
This climb will be tough—but not as tough as an Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis...
A diagnosis that is a sh$%, progressive, terminal neurological disease. MND attacks the nerve cells (neurones) that control the muscles we rely on to move, speak, breathe and swallow, causing them to weaken, deteriorate and eventually stop working.
What started 10 years ago as the #FiriesClimbforMND began with firefighters climbing the Sydney Tower to raise awareness and funds for those battling this sh!t disease. This year in 2025 for the first time it has expanded to include supporters outside of Fire and Rescue. We are taking on the challenge of the Furber Stairs in the Blue Mountains (Lauren hasn't even seen/googled what they look like but is up for it!) to continue that legacy and support the vital work of the MND Research Centre at Macquarie University.
This cause is deeply personal to us all.
We've watched someone we love dearly live so courageously with MND. We want to kick MND's arse.
We want to help build a future where a diagnosis is no longer a death sentence.
We want better.
So no matter how long it takes, we’ll be doing our laps—step by step, climb by climb (supporters are welcome to come and watch!)
We can’t do this without your help. Every donation, every share of our page, brings us closer to a world free of MND.
Thank you for backing us!
Love,
Lauren, Braydon, Ursula, Jann, Gruff and Frank
